Fiction for Kids

Once upon a time, I visited the library searching for books for my son to read, but I felt disheartened at the meager selection.

Where were the books featuring positive autistic characters enjoying their lives?

This was soon after I had first talked with my son about his autism diagnosis. How great would it be if he had books with relatable autistic characters?

In my search, I discovered a lack of early chapter readers with autistic characters. What I found were preschool/kindergarten level books, mostly in the vein of “this is why Joe flaps his hands,” and middle grade novels with struggling autistic characters.

I couldn’t find the kind of stories that my son enjoyed: early chapter plots filled with humor and adventure. I decided to write one for my son, and that is how Lucky Max came to life. I am seeking representation and a publisher for Lucky Max.
